future of computing 4/4: future internet browser

we all want to know how computing will look like in future. i thought it would be interesting to post some videos about how researchers and organizations see the future of computing. enjoy video 4 of 4, Mozilla Labs Aurora about “The Future of The Web”.

mozilla_labs_auroraMozilla Labs developed a video about the future way of browsing the internet. “Aurora is a concept video presenting one possible future user experience for the Web, created by Adaptive Path as part of the Mozilla Labs concept browser series. Aurora explores new ways people could interact with the Web in the future based on projected technological trends and real-world scenarios.” the video is split in four parts.

a lot of the aurora-ideas are very likely to become true, since they are, to some extend, available today (shopping recommendation based on personal profiles, personal stream about actions etc). sometimes the scenarios are a bit over the top, such as sending someone else’s personal data to shopping pages in order to get a birthday-present recommendation (part four). but i do not preclude that this might be possible some day.

i like the idea of pushing and pulling elements onto each other to automatically create new perspectives and views. and by live-sharing this information with colleagues and friends a totally new way of collaboration is realized. nice ideas for a future way of work.

future of computing 3/4: future interface

we all want to know how computing will look like in future. i thought it would be interesting to post some videos about how researchers and organizations see the future of computing. enjoy video 3 of 4, The future of future interface by PopularMechanics.

microsoftsurfacemulti touch displays will soon be a part of our every day life. the technique is already very well developed and ready to be used on a broad market.

the video shows very nicely the different interaction possibilities such displays offer. i like especially the idea of putting the camera or cell phone onto the display-table to interact with it. using induction it will as well be able to charge computer devices by just putting them onto the surface.

future of computing 1/4: MS office labs

we all want to know how computing will look like in future. i thought it would be interesting to post some videos about how researchers and organizations see the future of computing. enjoy video 1 of 4, MS office labs about future computing.

officemicrosoft has a vision. finally. MS office labs released a new video showing how computing might look like in 5+ years. the microsoft guys had a lot of great ideas such as the key in combination with the table. or the touch-screen newspaper, reminds me of the amazon reader ‘kindle’. and last but not least the mobile phone. please get me one of those!

the best idea, from my pov, is the ‘translator wall’. standing in front of each other, not speaking the same language, but still being able to communicate and learn with each other is amazing.

the video is great because it is visionary but close to reality. the only problem is: it is focused on hardware – microsoft is strong in software. maybe the company with the fruit will realize all the great ideas…
