this week adidas lauched miTeam, an online tool similar to miAdidas but for team gear. you can customize shirts, shorts and socks for the whole team using the colors you want to use. the application is pretty simple to understand and easy to handle.
I think adidas is entering a great market that is waiting for personalization for a long time. teams often have a hard time to find fitting gear in the right color. there is a great potential for customization and personalization in team-sport. and I am sure that Nike, Puma, Umbro, Kappa will follow soon.
let me just share this fascinating, shocking, devastating but motivating video with you. it was directed by yann arthus-bertrand, president of the GoodPlanet Fundation. please take your time and watch it until the end.
my current research topic is the use of multitouch screens for product creation purposes. a very interesting field since there is a lot going on – microsoft, 3M and IBM are putting huge effort into developing future touch screens.
thomas nielsson, graphic design student of the university of nörrköping (sweden), animated a very nice video about the fairy tail “little red riding hood”. showing data that is related to the objects in the story opens a new information level of what is going on in the video.
projecting the video to a real world situation it becomes obvious that all of this data is floating around us. whatever element/landscape/situation we deal with, data about it is somehow available. as i described in the last post (statistical machine translation – the first glimpse of automated result prediction) it is just a matter of prediction and aggregation in order to use it for your purposes. want to eat the grandma? first check the side effects of her medication!
David Heinemeier Hansson, founder of ruby on rails and partner of 37signals, gave a very interesting presentation on how to create a profitable startup. the presentation took place at Startup School 08, an “annual free conference for hackers interested in startups at Stanford University”.
David remembers entrepreneurs on something totally natural – to have a price for a product. it became a matter of course that people understand software as free of charge. but they shouldn’t. and startups should make this clear – they invest a lot of hard work (and often money) to make the life of the consumer simpler. and for this simplicity a consumers should pay, at least a small amount…
